Week 4: Social Ecological Systems Pt. 1 - Post 3
Social Ecological Systems Pt. 1 - My Thoughts
This weeks learning was more difficult to understand, but still incredibly eye opening. This course brings up terms that really shape my thinking about our current situation. I am not a huge fan of writing post two in third person, but I understand why and I am working with it. I am really fascinated by the Anthropocene and what the course calls social ecological systems. Now that I know what the systems are I see them all over, and I understand how humanity got to the point of the Anthropocene. By intertwining people and important environmental systems we have caused ourselves to truly control environmental conditions. It is crazy, how these small changes created this huge situation we are in right now. Climate change is not the end all be all of this problem. Humans have a hand in almost every ecological system, and we are negatively impacting much more then just global temperature. Unfortunately, everything on our Earth is connected, so as we negatively impact every aspect of the ecosystem, the ecosystem is negatively impacting us. It's all around us, and it's only going to get worse.
This week I wish to find more examples of social ecological systems and changes. I think examples of these systems will be helpful for my presentation. I like the stories that the professors tell of real world environmental issues relating to the course, I only wish for more.
For some reason only weeks 4-12 are showing up and for this week it is only post 3. Is it a modified blog?
